Dr. Nicholas is a board-certified ophthalmologist who joined Berks Eye in August of 2022. He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from Drexel University College of Medicine. His residency was completed at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Dr. Nicholas specializes in cataract and intraocular lens implant surgery, glaucoma management, and dry eye conditions.
Dr. Nicholas enjoys film and literature as well as Jazz music.

I recently needed to have cataract surgery and was fortunate to find Berks Eye Physicians and Surgeons Ltd. In Wyomissing, PA.. I was treated by Doctor Benjamin D. Nicholas. He was outstanding in every aspect of the procedure. He was thorough in explaining each phase of the surgery and other examinations needed to conduct the surgery.
Surgery was a complete success! Afterwards I looked in a mirror and was astonished that now at 75 I could see clearly as I once did. I am so pleased with the results of my cataract surgery by Benjamin Nicholas, MD at Berks Eye Physicians. Mine was not a “typical” case. I have lived with severe myopia (-13!) since grade school. In fact, my eyes were so bad that, in order to correct my vision with the procedure, Dr. Nicholas had to have lenses custom-made. Now at age 61, for the first time since 2nd grade I am living life without any vision correction except reading glasses. It is fabulous! It was a pleasure to be treated by Dr. Nicholas. I did not have a long wait & the girl who took me back & got my information was very friendly. The other girl came in & put drops in my eye plus got other information. Dr. Nicholas was also very pleasant & my examination went well. He explained my issue & prescribed what I needed to do with the medication to correct the problem. I cannot thank Dr. Nicholas enough. I had a massive stye back in December 2023 that WOULD NOT go away despite doing everything I was supposed to do to treat it. My mom recommended Dr. Nicholas, since my usual ophthalmologist wouldn't have been able to see me until February 2024 and I was unsure of where to turn. Being newer to the practice, Dr. Nicholas was able to squeeze me in for an appointment the same day back in December to check it out. He had amazing bedside manner and a genuine desire to help me get rid of the alien that was taking up residence in my eyelid (it was that big). He always walked me through his process in trying to examine my eyelid and how he wanted to treat it. I could go on and on about how cared for I felt during the process. Dr. Nicholas saw through my issue in its entirety and my eyelid is now currently stye free and I'm ecstatic. He is definitely my go to ophthalmologist now. As for Berks Eye Physicians & Surgeons Ltd. I came in as a new patient and I could not be more thrilled with my experience. The facility is very clean and well staffed. They had a table set up with someone there to help fill out new patient paperwork. I never had to wait long to be called back to see my doctor. The nurses are so kind and made me feel at ease. When it was my turn to be called back I truly felt as if I was the only patient there.
All the personnel provided excellent service examining my eyes. Dr. Benjamin Nicholas was very polite and exceptional in explaining all the procedures. Thanks to all involved for being there.

I received prompt and courteous care for an eye emergency which included blurry vision, more floaters and eye soreness. Was given a complete dilated eye exam by Dr Ben Nicholas, who reassured me there was no retinal tear or detachment! Great relief. Told me what to expect if that should occur in the future. Wants to see me again in 1 month to check my vision and status. Very thoughtful and caring young man.
Dr Nicholas listened to my problem. Told me the side effects of the drops he prescribed. He was very efficient and patient while performing a procedure.
Each time I have been treated in the office it was always a good experience. The Nurses have always been kind when they did some pre-testing for the doctor. Dr. Nicholas is a kind caring doctor and he tries his best to treat the present problems you are having. I trust his diagnosis. He goes over everything very thoroughly each time you see him. You can feel comfortable with him and I am glad he is there.
